Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: South Korean steel major, Posco today announced fresh investment of 623 million dollars for setting up cold rolling and galvanizing plants in Vietnam and Mexico respectively.

October 26 — Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. and Brazilian steelmaker Companhía Siderurgica Naçional have finalized the terms of their intended merger, but the plan must be confirmed at what promises to be a tense shareholders' meeting November 18. Steel service center group Esmark Corp. will use the meeting to try to replace Wheeling-Pitt's board with its own slate, in order to get a hearing on its own alternate takeover plan. Unknown is whether Tontine Management L.L.C. - a large Wheeling-Pitt shareholder, which last week offered to end the dispute by buying the steelmaker – will try to force its own outcome.
