After joining John Cauffiel in the machinery business in 1988, Tom has not only has been the longest standing member of the Galaxie team, he’s been a key player in expanding the company into an international company.
Tom does it all — evaluating machinery, buying and selling, coordinating plant liquidations and jumping on airplanes with little notice for onsite inspections. In his three decades at Galaxie he’s traveled to nearly three dozen countries and conducted business in all 50 American states. Tom’s philosophy is that the customer is king.
"The key to our business is finding them the machine that meets their needs," he says. "When it comes to what it can do, you’re not going to outsmart the customer. They know what they want. I respect the customer’s intelligence. Many of them have been in the processing business for decades."
Tom holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Lawrence Technological University, an academic background that’s been dramatically enhanced by his work in the trenches evaluating virtually every kind of metal processing machine in the market.
